The Results Are In: The 2026 Jump into January Challenge Actually Worked

Hair pulling. Skin picking. Nail biting. If you're tired of fighting your BFRB alone, keep reading because 31 days just changed the game for our community.

For the second year running, the HabitAware Collective took on the Jump Into January Challenge: 31 days of daily tasks, weekly activities, and intentional mindset shifts designed to reduce shame and build real confidence around Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs).

And the results? They speak for themselves.

Here's How It Worked

Every day, challengers received motivation, assignments, and check-ins from HabitAware Peer Coaches. Daily activities built routines. Weekly Zoom calls cracked open the hard conversations, and small mindset shifts made a huge impact, turning shame into confidence and fear into self-compassion.

Everyone moved at their own pace. Life is busy, and having a clear structure made it easier to show up. The focus was always on progress, not perfection: learning the foundations, building routines, and growing alongside people who truly get it. A safe space full of people ready to do the work, together.

What Challengers Are Saying

📣 "The most helpful pieces were creating a toolkit, awareness exercises, encouragement and positivity from Ellen, sharing experiences and support with others, working on positive self talk and strategies... I feel like they're all essential pieces of the puzzle." –R.W.

📣 "This was my first challenge and I thought it was soooo helpful! I'm super excited for February. I am overwhelmingly thankful and feel so blessed to have found this community!" –Becca S.

📣 "I'm incredibly grateful to have found the Keen2 bracelet and this wonderful community after 30 years of unsuccessfully managing this behavior on my own. Now I have the knowledge, support, mindset, and tools to heal and take care of myself. The opportunity to be accountable to a community that 'gets it' and check in on a regular basis motivated me to keep showing up for myself and others every day. It really did help to know that I was not alone, and I was bolstered by everyone's stories." –E.N.

📣 I've been pulling for over 40 years and always said I would NEVER join a support group - too scary! But this group is anything but scary. It's a group of people who get it. And it's not just a giant pity party where we exclaim, "woe is me." While we're allowed to voice our frustration and even scream "THIS SUCKS!", we are encouraged not to stay in that space through compassion and appropriate challenge, while being given tools and motivation for the journey. And just to hear that others are going through similar experiences - the whole "I'm not alone" thing - is powerful. Karen A

The Numbers Don't Lie

COMMUNITY + ACCOUNTABILITY = confidence up, shame down.

Average confidence ratings SKYROCKETED, and average shame ratings dropped even lower than last year's January Challenge.

(Note: Confidence and shame scores reflect how participants feel specifically about their BFRB.)

The people who did this challenge? They want to keep going. That's the whole point.
